Originally established in 1959 but reopened by new owners in 2010.
As a frequent visitor of Santa’s Village as a child, I was very excited when I heard they were reopening. I had just heard it last summer and was very excited to bring my young family to see if it was the same and what new attractions were added. Last summer was very busy for us and since our twins had some medical issues, we chose not to do too many day trips. Luckily, things came together this year and we were able to take the kids to Santa’s Village in June! The weather was just perfect and they really had the time of their lives. I couldn’t believe all of the animals they had there and all 5 of us were completed entertained the whole day! I highly recommend it for younger kids because there are plenty of rides for the little ones.
Santa’s Village focuses on clean, safe family fun! There is plenty of nostalgia for those of you have been there as a child yourself too. Several times I had deja vu there and you could tell that many of the original rides were still in action! According to the park owners, it’s Chicagoland’s most affordable family destination proudly creating cherished memories for over 50 years. Spread among the woodlands of the Fox River Valley in Northern Illinois, the park offers kiddie and family thrill rides, barn and petting zoo with many domestic and exotic animals, live shows, games, shops and restaurants. It is just minutes from Chicago or Rockford, off the Jane Addams/Northwest Toll way which makes it convenient to get there. The park is open from May through October and they have several events scheduled especially in the fall months. One admission price includes all rides, shows, critter encounters and attractions! Parking is free and picnic baskets are welcome. Great for group outings, school trips and birthdays.
The park was reopened in 2010 and started as a smaller plan that originated from the owners’ mobile animal business, A Zoo to You, Inc. It then snowballed into Santa’s Village Azoosment Park! The fact that they currently cater to the younger families makes them feel they are a quality business for children and families. Grandparents are able to walk the grounds and the owners constantly see three generations of families enjoying the day together. They all have their own memories as children and now can continue those memories with their grandchildren which make it a unique and extra special outing.
When asked if the owners had a special memory of the park to share they mentioned, ” The number of emails we get from families with children that suffer from numerous mental and/or physical ailments and due to our friendly helpful staff they were able to have a day of fun they normally don’t get to have. Creating those memories for others.”
Santa’s Village has many plans for the future too! They are always investing in new ways to improve the park, such as the new baby camel that now calls Santa’s Village home along with some other new arrivals. They just renovated the Scales & Tales Reptile House with a new jungle theme adding a photo area with the opportunity get your picture taken with a different animal like a snake, alligator or fox. They have done extensive landscaping and construction in the Country Grove area, adding a new Magic Stage and the new Ding ‘em Dodge ‘em Bumper Car pavilion. And last but not least, they are currently under major construction of the new Wildcat Roller Coaster, the first mid-size roller coaster, which will be a wonderful addition to the park adding a nice balance to the ride mix.
“People are so excited to see the park open again and how beautiful it’s looking. Many relate their stories to us coming here as children and what their favorite ride was, being able to touch the frosty north pole once again, visiting Old MacDonald’s farm and feeding the animals and visiting Santa in his house. Families that used to frequent Kiddieland are very happy to see that we have 3 of their original rides as well, ” said the owners.

ErinWe love to go every year, and went this year in the beginning of June. My daughter’s absolute favorite ride is the RotoWhip! She can ride it dozens of times each visit! We also love, love, love the fact we can picnic there. We have a family member with a food allergy, so this makes it really easy for us to enjoy the day!
