Even though custom photography services aren’t for everyone, many people rule them out because of the higher investment involved. Custom Photography will provide you with one of a kind portraiture that you can cherish for years to come and even pass on to new generations. There are ways to save money on custom photography services if you love the idea of these services but do not feel it fits your present budget.
1.)Group Discounts
Some custom photographers offer special mini session events for holidays or in the fall before the holidays. These are shorter sessions that are great if you need a few portraits for holiday cards or to capture a special milestone like sitting up, first steps or a birthday! They are usually discounted since the photographers book several families in that same day.
This year Just Peachy Photography held a Limited Edition Valentine’s Day Mini Session event and our Easter one is coming up on March 10th. We also hope to host some for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween, and maybe Christmas.
2.)Portrait Parties
You may find a custom photographer that schedules special “parties” for clients to invite friends and families to their home or another location to have portraits taken of their children or whole family. The hosts invite their guests and set up the times for their portraits and the photographer handles almost everything else. Hosts can earn free products and discounts and usually all of the guests save on portraits because of discounted group rates. These can be a lot of fun too!

3.)Referral Programs
Many custom photographers offer a referral program to their clients and give credits to clients and even free sessions just for referring friends and family to their studio. Sometimes, even the person they are referring the services to get a gift! Find a photographer you like and spread the word about their services! Social media and forwarding newsletters and other promotions is a good start!
Our referral program: Get a $25 credit for any of our services or products by referring a friend and your friend gets a complimentary 8×10 print with their booked session. No limit! We also give $15 print credits for referrals of our mini sessions!
4.)Subscribe and Follow
Subscribe to your favorite custom photographer’s newsletter and “like” them on Facebook to find out when they are holding promotions, events, or contests. Most of these subscriber opportunities can be found directly on their websites. You can also subscribe through RSS to get their blog posts, follow on Twitter, or check their blog/website regularly to keep up with their current specials and promotions.
We have a monthly newsletter with photo tips, events, specials, company news, kids’ activities, local business specials, recipes and more! You can subscribe on our Facebook page or on the left tab on our blog. We also post specials on our blog and Facebook page occasionally.
5.)Model Calls
Watch for “model calls”. Some photographers do a “model call” for a specific type of model that they need for a commercial job or to update their own portfolio. This can even be a need for a personal, creative project. Many times they will give a discounted or free session or give free products for volunteering to be a model.

Of course, many of these are ways to save by getting “group” discounted rates but it doesn’t give you the full experience. They are great if you want a few updated images of your kids for special milestones or fun themed portraits for an upcoming holiday.
